This is a fine example of why some artist should stay as far away from cover homages as possible, because it's ironic how much BETTER the cover from 1992 is to what I just saw on the comic shelves today. By far the worst cover of any comic this week. I dare say this is even worst than Liefeld's usual work and that's saying something.
Usually, the homaging artist compares unfavourably with the homaged one, but, if we include Liefeld into this equation, the homaged artist always looks like fuckin Michelangelo.
Liefeld has delivered his worst works in the few past years, if you can call that drawing. It seems as if he didn't strive to do his best. Obviously, his editors are largely to blame, too.

ReplyDeleteYeah, I´ve spotted it, but I´m not entirely sure that it was an homage, the cover layouts are quite different. Thanks for the clue, anyway.
